Our dance community should be a fun, friendly place, where everyone can enjoy learning,
dancing and have a great time. This code of conduct is meant to outline some ways we can
work together to keep everyone safe and happy. It also helps explain what is and isn’t okay
behavior. It talks a little about things any of us can do when someone’s behavior is unacceptable
or not safe for those around them, and some things we as organizers might do to support a safe
environment for everyone.

”We’ll begin by introducing a series of foundational movements that you can use to add musicality and variation to your basic steps. These moves are designed to help you connect more creatively with the music and make your dancing more expressive. ![]()
![]()
Next, you’ll have time to explore these variations on your own, focusing on how they feel in your body and how they match the rhythm and mood of the music. This is your chance to play, experiment, and find your own style! ![]()
![]()
Finally, we’ll bring it all together in partnered dancing, where you’ll learn how to use these movements in a fun, collaborative way—perfect for the social dance floor. ![]()
”

Event location
The weekend will take place at the Ikaalinen Spa&Resort
There are plenty of free parking spaces available for customers in the yard. They have place for caravan cars and separate charging stations for electric cars.
For driving directions and more detailed tips on how to get to the location and parking instructions, it’s recommended to check their website under the ”Location & parking” section.
There is also a bus stop directly in front of the main building, and the shuttle bus from Tampere runs roughly twice a day on weekdays. It takes about an hour and 20 minutes to travel by bus from Tampere to our resort. More extensive schedules can be found at https://www.matkahuolto.fi/en. Straight from the railwaystation might be rare to have connection to event location but Tampere bustation is easier to get. Distance from railwaystation – busstation is 680m.
Onnibus is also travelling to the Spa (Ikaalinen, kylpylä).
Other helpful tips from FinTraffic.
Even we are surrounded with a wonderful west coast swing dancers there is always possibility of theft. Make sure you don´t leave your valuables unattended. Last year we had some problems with outsiders trying to enter our beautiful dance bubble.
Take several type of dance shoes due the fact floors are… variable… in a different dance classes. Main ball room is pretty slick. People seemed to like it last year. Poppeli and Tuomi floors are pretty opposite since it´s just regular conference plastic mat.
Accommodation
All the room options of the main building include breakfast and access to the Water tropic and gym. If you are staying in a neighboring building, check with the hotel if your reservation includes breakfast and the use of the spa.
They have multiple options, so take the chance to fit all your friends to your room with the help of extra beds (helps to lower your budjet, you know…). Only staying in the main building ensures you, that you don´t need to go outside to enter dance lessons, parties and competitions. Just saying…
The hotel takes care of the accommodation policy, so overnight reservations are handled through their email or phone. The code for our event will be ”SaunaSwing”.

Clement Turpain & Evgenia Itkina
Clevi – Clem & Evi – are two passionate West Coast Swing dancers based in Berlin. With a decade of experience each, they have joined forces to teach and dance together. Clement, an All-Star Division leader and an Advanced Division follower, brings a unique sense of musicality and creativity to the dance floor with his decade of musical studies and his background in solo dances like Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary. Evi, an All-Star Division follower with a professional contemporary dance background and experience in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance, adds her unique flavor to WCS. Chuck and Lauren’s friendship began in Singapore, where Lauren was passionately engaged in social dancing and Chuck was working at a dance event in 2018. Their bond and friendship has only deepened since. It was in June 2022 that they took their friendship to a new level, deciding to form a teaching partnership, marking the start of an adventure filled with inspiration and excitement. Chuck Brown, With more than 25 years dedicated to West Coast Swing, he stands out as a top teacher, chief judge, champion dancer, community leader, and event organizer and director. His event “TAP,” is one of the most memorable and innovative events in WCS. His global recognition comes from teaching in over 30 countries, where he enriches students with a diverse dance repertoire and out-of-the-box teaching techniques, including his renowned “Emotion in Motion” retreats and master classes. Moreover, he has trained hundreds of judges through his comprehensive EyePower Judges Training Master Classes and Intensives, one of the most thorough judging training programs in West Coast Swing. Lauren affectionately characterizes Chuck as a globetrotting soul who is able to ‚come home‘ to every corner of the globe. Incredibly, his passion for West Coast Swing and the love for the people in it are still as strong as the day he started. She attributes Chuck as a paramount influence on her dance journey, admiring his ability to embody a perfect blend of motivation, expertise, and determination. He strives to express his love for the art of dancing and we in turn love him for it. Chuck frequently describes Lauren as „a humble dance phenomenon,“ whose devotion to a dancer’s spirit, the community, and her friendships enriches our lives immeasurably. Her presence and empathy is indeed a blessing to us all.
Maïna Vila Cobarsi
Maïna Vila Cobarsi has been passionate about dance from an early age, practicing tap and
solo dances. She discovered West Coast Swing in 2013 in Rouen, and has been involved in events ever
since. Inspired by various champions, she has developed her own style with elegance,
feminity and musicality.
Maïna often stands out in competition in the All Stars category, which she joined in 2018.
She continues to train regularly to perfect her skills. She created an online platform for lady styling classes with Angélique Pernotte in August 2023, to help dancers evolve and embrace their femininity.
She also contributes to the development of her local community, organizing workshops and
her annual event “Normandie On West”.
Today, she is keen to share her teaching with kindness and fun.
Daniel Pavlov
Daniel discovered WCS in 2013 and quickly fell in love with the dance. Having tried many social partner dances prior to that point, West Coast Swing stood out as an art form with unending possibilities in musicality, partnership and self-expression. Today, these reasons still remain the foundation for his dedication and love for WCS.
In addition to more than a decade of experience teaching dance, Daniel likes to use knowledge from martial arts, psychology, music, sports and parkour to supplement his students’ learning. His aim in class is to strike a balance between efficient growth and simple light fun that can be shared by all.
Daniel trains regularly, teaches all over the globe, and competes in the All-Star division. His passion for West Coast Swing runs deep and having the ability to share it with others is something he is endlessly grateful for every single time!
Zac & Maddy Skinner
Zac and Maddy Skinner aka ”Zaddy” are literally from the other side of the world! They began their partnership in 2015 and are now not only dance partners but husband and wife. Combined they bring over 3 decades of West coast swing experience and a wealth of knowledge in modern jive and solo styles of dance. They have an ”out of the box” teaching style that encourages and inspires their students. You will always see them on the social floor until early hours of the morning and they bring an Aussie energy from the Southern hemisphere that can’t be matched! They love being community leaders and representatives and are always one of the first to cheer for anyone on the floor, so be ready for some Zaddy love!
